Introducing Laurie

Laurie.jpg

Laurie's interest in art and architecture started at school. He went on to spend five years at the Hull School of Architecture where he qualified as an architect in 1979.

He worked for a number of practices and organisations in both the public and private sectors before setting up his own architectural practice in 1999. In his career as an architect Laurie developed a special interest in the design of sustainable buildings. He won a number of competitions to design visitor centres on environmentally sensitive sites for a wide range of clients.

As a practising architect Laurie designed a variety of school projects and larger housing developments, together with a range of one-off house commissions for private clients. A number of his projects received design awards.

Following retirement from the practice in 2016, he returned to painting after an absence of over 40 years. His current interest is working on large canvases using mixed medium, including acrylic.
